Gardeuse De Vache
A baby cow stranded on a frozen lake and stuck in the ice was blown to safety by a TV news helicopter pilot, who used the very powerful air flow created by his helicopter to move it. Without some human interven-tion, it was possible the calf could have broken through the ice and drowned as such a young animal undoubtedly would not have known how to save itself. Also, it isn’t clear how the calf could have been saved otherwise.
In the video below, you can hear a person on the lake’s shore encouraging the pilot, so it may have been that the ice wasn’t strong enough to support an adult capable of capturing the animal and leading it to land.
The calf was stranded on the ice near Watonga, Oklahoma. Paul Dunn is the pilot who helped the animal after his TV news station received a call from a local rancher about the situation. Dunn had used the helicopter air stream to blow a deer stranded on ice to safety several years ago.
